Should I Send My Child to Holiday Camp?

Holiday camps are where lasting memories are made. Children have the opportunity to work on crazy, adventurous tasks with their friends and experience life away from home for the first time. At camp there are so many skills that they’ll gain and best of all, you’ll be glad to have some peace! If you’re looking to send your child to a holiday camp over the break but not quite sure, an adventure kids camp shares everything that you need to know.

Independence

Living away from home can be a scary concept for some children initially but once they get past it, they’re jumping for joy. It can teach them how to do things for themselves and learn how to be independent.

Learning Loss

During the school holidays children are away from the classroom and experience what is known as “learning loss” which refers to a lack of mental stimulation. At camp your child will have a variety of activities to keep them engaged where they have to apply themselves, like raft and tent building.

Physical Exercise

Instead, most children spend an awful lot of time stuck in one spot – either on their tablet or games console. This leads to a period of inactivity and as a result they suffer from a lack of fresh air and poorer mental health. All, if not most, of the activities that your child will engage in at holiday camp will get them up and about which can help them stay fit and healthy.

Maintain Routine

When school closes for the holidays, a few bad habits start to form and standards slip. Children no longer have to wake up at 8am which means that many fall out of the school routine. Holiday camps closely mimic school and in that sense can make things a little easier for their first week back.
