Outdoor Play Area
Kids have a lot of energy and having an outdoor area where they can burn some of it off is a great idea. Include climbing frames, ride ones, lots of footballs! Kids also want to play out at different times, and they shouldn’t have to stay inside during the winter if it starts getting dark. Make sure it is a properly lit area. This will help at collection time too, especially if you stay open late. You need to make sure that your outdoor LED lighting is waterproof with an IP rating as well.
Different Zones
It’s a great idea to have different zones throughout the nursery school. An area where quiet reading in encouraged, another zone where playing with little toys and action figures can take place. Fancy dress costumes for playing dress up, a home corner where they can pretend to be cooking and looking after babies as well as a sand and water tables. Feed their imagination. Little tables and chairs where they can eat their packed lunches are needed too.
Plenty Of Toys & Books
Toys are a huge part of nursery school. Learning through play is a massive deal when children are developing. Appropriate toys and books can help them meet milestones. Some children will gravitate to some toys whilst others will go to different ones. We all have different preferences and having a variety of things available will help the kids during the day. You should also make sure areas where they are stored and kept are clearly labelled so when the children help tidy up at the end of the day it’s easier.
Kid Friendly Toilets
One part of nursery school is often learning to toilet train. Parents can do this at home but if they have to work and put their kids into a nursery school, the toilet training have to continue in that setting. That means that child sized toilets need to be installed. Consider enough privacy for the kids to feel safe and actually go to the toilet but enough space for nursery school teachers to help out should they need to. Well lit too so it’s easy to see where they’re aiming and for cleaners to mop up any mess. They also need to be well signposted and all the kids need to know where they are. Some children are shy when it comes to going to the loo and that can easily turn into wet trousers. Have some carrier bags for wet pants and a bundle of spare clothes should anyone need them.

As well as all the physical parts of the building and the things for the children to play with, you also need some honest, reliable and amazing staff members. Those who have the same care and compassion for children as you do. Obviously you’ll have to go through many thorough checks of their background and lots will have qualifications and experience which stand them out from the crowd. Happy staff help the day go well.
